The Code Config app
The web app manages your toolkits. The software on your computer downloads the selected content, checks it, prepares configuration for your coding app, and starts a supported launch.
Desktop app or CLI
Section titled “Desktop app or CLI”The Code Config app gives you a visual launcher, a list of running sessions, and settings for this computer. csc provides command-line setup, launches, and management. Use the CLI on a server where you do not need a desktop interface.
Both use the same computer connection and toolkit data. Installing the software and connecting the computer are separate steps.
What the web app keeps, and what stays here
Section titled “What the web app keeps, and what stays here”The web app holds your toolkits, the repositories you take tools from, your projects, and the computers you have connected. That is the part you edit in a browser and share with the rest of your workspace.
Key values and the readable location of each project folder stay on the computer that has them. They are not part of a toolkit, so a toolkit does not carry them to another computer. Tool files you wrote yourself are uploaded by the Community sharing step you start yourself.

Start work
Section titled “Start work”In Code Config, choose Start a session, then choose your project, toolkit, coding app, and account. Review the selected toolkit before launching.
A session is one managed run of a coding app. Find managed runs under Sessions, grouped by project. Cursor’s Set up and open operation writes project configuration and opens your own Cursor; it is not a managed session.

Receive toolkit changes
Section titled “Receive toolkit changes”A launch checks for toolkit updates before starting the coding app. You can also request a sync:
csc syncOnly changed content needs to be downloaded. Sync and launch results report problems; an app opening does not prove every tool is ready. Start a new launch to use toolkit edits; a coding session that is already running does not pick them up.
The web app’s computer list separates connection, presence, sync status, and software version. A computer can be connected but asleep, or online while still syncing.
Use another computer
Section titled “Use another computer”Install and connect Code Config on that computer too. Choose its local project folder, coding-app account, and required credentials. Connecting it does not clone projects or transfer credential values from another computer.
