Find and add tools
Use Tool Builder to choose tools and add them to a toolkit. You can browse indexed tools or add a repository containing tools you already use.
Items and Sources
Section titled “Items and Sources”Items lists individual tools: skills, agents, MCP servers, hooks, plugins, and rules. Use it when you know the kind of thing you want. Sources lists the repositories those tools come from, both the ones in My tools and the public Registry. Use it when you want to see everything one project offers.
Read Works with before you add a tool; it names the coding apps that can use it. A tool that works with your app can still need a credential or your approval on the computer you launch from, so read its Before you add notes as well.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Sign in to the web app. Choose an existing toolkit, or create one from your selection in the final step.
Add tools
Section titled “Add tools”- Open Tool Builder → Items. Search for a tool or filter by tool type, repository, or Works with.
- Open a tool to inspect its description, source, compatibility, and Before you add requirements. Full details opens its own page.
- Select the row’s checkbox or choose Add to Builder. Keep browsing; the Builder Tray holds your selection.
- Open the tray. Choose Add to toolkits, then select the destination toolkit. Alternatively, choose Create toolkit from selection.
- Choose Review placement. Check setup requirements and conflicts. Existing tools are not duplicated.
- Confirm the addition. Open the toolkit’s Contents tab to check the result.
Adding tools saves the toolkit definition. To use the changes on your computer, start a new launch with that toolkit selected.
Setup and compatibility
Section titled “Setup and compatibility”A compatibility result describes one tool in one coding app, not the entire toolkit. Limited means some behavior changes during conversion; Unwritable means the app will not receive that item. Compatibility and setup explains all results.
Tools needing credentials can still be added. Complete their local setup from Configuration → Tools needing setup before relying on them. See Set up MCP credentials.
Use the Builder Tray
Section titled “Use the Builder Tray”The Builder Tray holds the tools you pick while you keep browsing, so you can gather a set across several searches and add it in one go. Open the tray to read the selection back, drop anything you changed your mind about, and choose where the rest goes.
From the tray, Add to toolkits puts the selection into toolkits you already have, and Create toolkit from selection starts a new one from it. Review placement is the last look before anything is saved: it shows setup requirements and conflicts, and leaves a tool the toolkit already has where it is.
Larger selections
Section titled “Larger selections”The tray holds up to 100 tools and survives a reload in the same tab for the same workspace. Remove an item from the tray to leave it out of the addition.
A selection can be added to up to 100 toolkits in one review. Selections containing MCP servers must be added to one toolkit at a time. Repeat the addition for another toolkit.
Find the source of a tool
Section titled “Find the source of a tool”Sources lists repositories behind My tools and the Registry. Open a source to view its tools, check indexing, or reindex it when available.
Remove from My tools removes that repository from the account’s source list. Tools already selected in toolkits remain in those toolkits. Source removal is not a way to remove those tools from a toolkit.
Use column filters and sorting to narrow a long list. More rows appear as you scroll.
Check it worked
Section titled “Check it worked”Confirm the tool appears under Contents, review its Configuration result for your coding app, then try it in a new launch. Saving the toolkit change records it; the launch is where you see whether the coding app loaded the tool.
