Create your own toolkit

Create a toolkit when an existing one does not fit your work. A toolkit can be reused across projects and connected computers.

Before you start

Sign in to the web app. To try the toolkit on your computer, complete Get started first.

Create and fill the toolkit

1. Open Toolkits and create a toolkit. Give it a name that describes its purpose, such as Frontend work.
2. Open Tool Builder → Items and select a skill, command, or another tool. Check Works with for the coding app you plan to use.
3. Open the Builder Tray, choose Add to toolkits, and select your new toolkit.
4. Review the selection, setup requirements, and conflicts, then confirm.

You can also select tools first and choose Create toolkit from selection in the tray. Find and add tools explains repository sources and batch additions.

Check it worked

Open the toolkit’s Contents tab and confirm the selected tool is listed. Under Configuration, complete any Tools needing setup step on the computer that will use it.

Adding an item saves the toolkit; it does not write configuration to your computer immediately. In the Code Config app, start a launch and select this toolkit explicitly. Confirm its name before opening the coding app, then try the tool there.

A plain CLI launch uses the project or workspace default, which may be a different toolkit. Choosing a toolkit in the web app does not change that default.

Edit settings and review usage

Changes reach a computer on a later sync or launch. They do not reconfigure an already running coding app.
